Meet Jaz and Leah, the founders of SENDsenses.

We met at a specialised school and instantly connected with our shared love and passion for nature connection, working with children as well as supporting mental health & wellbeing. With our backgrounds in special yoga and experience in working with children, we wanted to create sessions that promote mindfulness, providing a nurturing environment where children and families can thrive, finding a safe, non-judgemental space. We understand the importance of sensory stimulation and incorporate it into our sessions to help children explore and engage. With our love for being in nature, we wanted to offer unique outdoor experiences that allow children to connect with nature and engage with their body, mind and senses in a calming way.

SENDsenses is special to us both because it creates a safe space where people are able to feel seen, understood and included.

I am a nature enthusiast, I spend my time walking and exploring, meditating and practicing yoga. I'm always learning ways to better my own mental health, so I can help others, because ultimately we are all here to keep learning and growing, whilst being kind.

Working with children and young adults is a huge passion of mine. I've worked in main stream schools with nurture intervention as well as SEND schools. I also volunteered and worked at a charity for pre-school children with additional needs and disabilities.

I worked in a primary school (Reggio Emilia approach) in Chile, South America and although I struggled with my Spanish, it showed how non-verbal communication, body language, facial expressions, eye contact, tone of voice is hugely important.

I enjoy being outdoors and connecting to nature, particularly mountain hikes and wild swimming. I love yoga, with its multitudes of benefits, and also learning about astrology. I see the value in understanding the four elements of nature which exist within our personalities and psyches.

I also have a wealth of experience and interest in psychology. I am passionate about improving mental health and well-being, specifically for the younger generations. I believe that children are here to teach us as much as we are them and appreciate the insights that child-led approaches elicit.

I have worked with SEND for 9 years in various settings in London and Bristol.

I absolutely adore going on adventures in my beloved VW, and there’s nothing quite like paddleboarding with my dog Banff by my side—it fills my heart with joy and makes me feel so alive being surrounded by nature. When it comes to animals, I can never choose just one! I’m torn between the cuteness of cats, the loyal warmth of dogs, and the playful beauty of dolphins. If I had to pick a favorite tree, it would definitely be a cherry blossom—there’s something so magical about them in full bloom.

From a very young age, I knew my heart was meant for working with children, which led me to train as a Norland Nanny. Now, after 10 years of experience and a wealth of extra training, especially in early childhood development, I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love every day.

I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, a Level 4 qualification in Maternity Nursing and Paediatric first aid.
